Sending pics via MMS

I'm having trouble sending pics I've taken on my SG2 in a MMS. When i attach the pic i get a message that the file is too large and it is compressing. But then after it compresses and i send the pic it never goes. It says it is sending but it never does. What do i need to do to share my pics?
