sharing internet connection between android and PC

Heard from a friend dt its possible to share an internet connection / data plan / megabytes between Android and PC, I'v been trying the steps he gave but its not working, anybody with d right steps?

That's easy. Plug in Data cable into your PC and mobile and then go to Menu-Settings-Wireless & Networks-Tethering or hotspot device-USB tethering-OK.
You will get connected to the internet.
