Shortcut added to screen?

How do I get rid of it? Everytime I download an app it adds a shortcut to my screen

Long press on the icon and drag it to remove at the top or bottom of the screen.

It's a Google market setting

Go to play store>menu>settings, uncheck the auto add widgets box.
