Ok, i am buying a phone shortly and I am not sure if i wanna get the droidx for free or if it is worth getting the droidx2 for $150 what is your guys opinion?

Well the X2 has a dual processor, but there have been issues with the screen being worse than the first. (barely)

It would be better to get the first since there isn't much of a difference, but if you want the "latest and greatest," you should get the X2.

I did do a good amount of research and the only real difference i found was the screen was supposed to be better(i guess that must be false), the camera was better(software i assume) and it was with less external memory

Here^ is a good way to see what I mean about the screen.
I don't use my camera much, so I don't have much of an opinion on that.

Also, I am not sure if the X2 can be rooted and Rom'd yet.

The X1 has Gingerbread now. Something to consider. Also, if you root and rom the phone, you can get it to just about as fast as the X2.

saw that as well, but have people actually seen the qhd and overall disatisfied compared to a slcd screen? if the bionic will have qHD as well and it's as bad as people say it is...i guesss iphone 5 it is...

hmm very interesting, i thin i perfer the droidx, one last questions, how safe is it to root the droidx, pretty safe right? i was reading about etampering thing where it bricks the phone, only managed to find a select few articles about it so not sure how legitimate the source was so i figured i would ask those who clearly have a good deal of knowledge on the topic.

The screen on my wife's X2 is gorgeous...my wife (picky as they come, notices EVERY flaw in anything she uses) loves it, I've yet to find any flaws in my more limited use of it.

I'm sure folks can put together "proof" that the screen isn't any good (similar threads abound in the home theater forums that panic people who love their TV until they read that they shouldn't) but in actual use, the screen is a non-issue, looks great, perfectly functional, prefer it over my D2.

If you want to save money get an X...if you want to get something REALLY good wait for the Bionic. I had $450 in my pocket and ALMOST bought an X2, but I didn't. I tried it out and wasn't overly impressed. Hopefully the Bionic will blow the X2 away.

I know exactly what you mean, i really want to get the bionic, but i leave for the military and need to renew my contract before i leave so i can contact friends and family so i have less than a week to pick a phone.

Well, in my opinion, the X2 isn't a HUGE step up from the original. Like I said, if you wanna save money, definitely go with the original X. With the new 2.3.3 update it has more life in it now. If you want the newest and dual core, go with the X2. I've seen lots of negative things about the X2 in reviews. Probably because people were expecting more from it. You can get an X for CHEAP now.

I can get the Droidx for free through wirefly so I'm really thinking the Droidx is really worth it.

Man I love my X. I just picked up the complete acessory pack for it too for $19.95 from Verizon too. Really cant go wrong with it. For free? Can't beat that. I paid $200 for mine! lol

Yet is the real word to be using. If its on froyo 2.3 I don't see why z4 root can't be used.

Sent from my DROIDX using DroidForums

Z4Root won't do anything on 2.3.3...only works to root 2.2.1...you have to install the rooted versions if you want root, and then use the Droid 2 Bootstrap to have clockwork recovery. Gingerbreak will not root stock .596 or stock .595.
