Recently, my bionic has become dreadfully slow. It all started with the ICS OTA Update. I searched the forums and found that others were having the same issues, and suggestions to address those were to set the window and transition animation scale set to 1x, and do a complete factory reset. I did both, but neither helped. I tried dealing with it for awhile and a friend of mine suggested that I root my phone and get rid of all the bloatware, so I did that. I have tried Eclipse ICS and Blurry Max 4.1. Both run fine, but both are extremely slow, but I'm not seeing chatter or others experiencing this type of performance. I use GO SMS Pro as my text message app. When I start it up, the screen goes black and I can count to at least 5 (using the 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, ... method). This happens regardless of Stock, Eclipse, or Blurry. Pretty much everything is very slow. I don't have a lot of apps (at least I don't think so). Is it just that it's an old device?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

At this point it sounds like you have tried all the things that have helped some people.
I would at this pooint prep myself by backing up files, list of apps & doing a current sync on your phone for contacts.
Flash the phone with rsd lite backt to factory out of the box ICS.
The link to all the info & files is below in my signature.
You have to realize the phones now days are computers & sometimes system files get corrupted & create problems with performance.
If this doesn't work than the only other thing it could be is some app being a resource hog.
If you flash it and it is still slow I would start over with minimal apps being restored & add them back one at a time until you see when the phone slows down or start acting weird.

I will give that a try. I already have SafeStrap installed, would it be the same as Flashing .246 ICS to one of the available ROM slots, or do I need to specifically use RSDLite?

Thanks you so much for your help!!!

Thanks Again Jeff. That worked! You have no idea how much I appreciate your help.

This happened on my wife's razr. Under all apps, select download manager and select clear data.
