Snapdragon 800 Shows Up in New Galaxy S4 Benchmark & Steals Performance Crown

A new Galaxy S4 benchmark showed up online today. What is intriguing about this one is the processor that is in it. Instead of the Samsung Exynos 5 Octa or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, which is what we currently have across the globe, this version of the SGS4 had the high-end Snapdragon 800. As you can see from the results above, this new Snapdragon 800 equipped version of the SGS4 had a phenomenal AnTuTu score of 31,491 points. While it isn't a great deal faster than the Exynos 5 Octa-core version which clocked in the previous AnTuTu record score of 31,127, it is still several hundred points higher.

This benchmark score isn't all the news we have regarding the device either. Apparently, this newer and more powerful version of the SGS4 will probably be coming sometime this fall. It recently passed its DNLA and WiFi certification. Here's a quote with the final details,

In addition, the same handset has passed Wi-Fi certification (it has already gotten DLNA certified earlier), so all clues point to the fact that it exists and it is indeed coming soon to Korea. The current model that got Wi-Fi certified is the Samsung SHV-E330S.

Expectations are for Snapdragon 800 running phones to become the norm in the last quarter of this year.

While this is exciting for those who will be looking to grab this phone later this fall, and it's almost always fun to see stellar performance benchmarks, early adopters of the SGS4 might feel a bit dismayed. What do you guys think?
