snesoid translation question

Alright, I tried my best to be a good newbie and look through the older topics, but couldn't find much pertaining to this.

I've been really wanting to play fire emblem 4 on my snesoid (seisen no keifu is the subtitle I belive), but i'd rather not have to learn japanese to play it. I have a japanese version and the 80% patch downloaded, but it still plays in japanese when I load the game. Do I need to download something else or modify something?

In my experience, you have to patch the ROM file with the patch executable (on your computer, most likely) before the ROM becomes translated. Try running your 80% patch on the rom file on your computer, then transferring the new, patched ROM back to your droid.

I did this with mother 3 for GBA and it works fine.

Alright, but do you recommend a specific file extension? I noticed that the gba roms mostly end in ".gba." should I put like ".snes" or try something else. I tried doing .ips, but astro doesn't recognize that file type.

My SNES ROMS are .smc but your file extension shouldn't change. Do the translation patch and you should be good to go.

my SNESoid reads my .zip files too, but as the poster above said, the patcher should take care of it
