So, here's my unique method for disposing of old cell phones......what's yours?

I have previously donated my old cell phones to battered women's shelters, etc, but this time, I got a little paranoid because I could not find a way to get my cell number completely off of my old LG; so it became the guinea pig for a little "test".

Here's a video of the shot:

This is what an arrow at 260 fps does to a cell phone....nothing too dramatic but it sure does go right through it quite nicely :)

My cell phones, if they aren't donated, usually wind up on the "dead technology" shelf in the basement...They have good company, too... There are 2 VCR's an old GameBoy, a Game Gear, DVD player, and two old cordless phone sets, plus a small box of random computer parts (modems, old vid cards, fried mobo,) I have this thing about throwing electronics in the garbage.....

I have taken a half dozen computers to the computer recycling drive my son's high school has every year... They won't take the other stuff though, so, not quite sure what to do with it all...

Looks like someone was having alittle trouble with their draw (alittle to heavy would be my guess but if you didn't use the release you would probably be fine). Back to the point however, I like this idea! Haha... perhaps my voyager will meet its death taped to my block.

Where I live, one of the local radio stations does a "Cell Phone Toss" around the 4th... you win prizes for the farthest thrown.

Ive just ran over it with my truck or dropped a cinder block on it these past years. But now that I think about it, donating seems like a great way to go.

I generally see if anyone has done a "disassembly" post on the model, and if not I take it apart, shoot pics, etc.

Then toss.

Usually I donate, but I did have some fun w/ an old Nokia of my wife's.

Hit it center mass at 10 yards w/ an AR15 I built.

55 grain .223 makes a little hole going in, and a big hole coming out.

No pics, but the phone is sitting at my desk at work along w/ the spent shell casing.

:)

I donate mine to "Cell phones for Soldiers". They take your old phone, sell it to a refurb company, and use the profits to buy calling cards for our men & women who are stationed overseas.

Welcome to Cell Phones for Soldiers!

I didn't go this route.... but I did give it to a soldier. My buddy was returning overseas to Pakistan I believe and he had a BB Curve, which isn't a world phone. I had my BB Storm, which was collecting dust, so I had it unlocked and now he's got a phone he can use over there!
