So I rooted my phone.

It has been a week since you posted this, so I am sure you have some answers by now.

The answer has to do with "Why did you root, for what purpose?

Things you can do once rooted.
1. wifi tether
2 usb tether
3 install different ROM's
4 Freeze or uninstall what is called Bloat with Titanium backup
5 Use your phone to learn Linux commands with the Terminal Emulator

and many more reasons.

Do you mean buy EasyTether for $9.99 or use crippled version? or do you have a no cost method to usb tether?

I mean the $9.95 version, I did not try the light version. You do not need to be rooted to use it.

Install a new custom rom. Be careful though and read all directions. Remove unwated apps. Overclock it. And underclock it to save battery. Have fun with it!

Ok so I installed squidlymandingo's rom, and I'm loving it so far. Overclocked my phone, but thinking that I'm only going to underclock it to save battery. I'm away from a charger most of the day, so I'm liking being able to underclock. Downloaded setcpu, and have it set to underclock when my screen turns off. Downloaded also a wifi app, but which one is decent for that? Any suggestions? Also downloaded and set up the fm radio app that recently came out. Not too bad if you have a strong station. Where I work, the reception sucks. At home, the reception is good.

Oh and also I used titanium to freeze all the bloatware. Decided to leave it installed to make life easier if I ever wanted to unroot

Wireless Tether for Root Users is what I use, it's free. Far as USB tethering, I use pda.net. I don't really bother with wired tethering though, wireless is much easier.

Go blurrless with the rom and get the additional hapticless features, that will probably save you a little battery. Set up a toggle widget for the wifi too. turning it off all the time to save battery might get annoying. Use that SetCpu profile feature. Enjoy the rom, im enjoying mine.
