Next step? What do you mean, there is no next step.

JUST KIDDING!

I don't know what's all available for your Fascinate, but what you can do is remove bloatware. Start by downloading Root Explorer from the Market. You can also get a nice Cache Cleaner, cleans all cache with a one button push called Cache Mate also in the Market.

Beyond that see if there are any custom ROMs available for your Fascinate. I don't know if you can overclock it, you might want to look into that. Also take a look at your apps. See if you can't move some of them off the phone on to your SD card now.

I downloaded a overclock app, and
Cache cleaner. Google is on here now, what are some good Roms?

Does z4root work with the Fascinate? I downloaded it for my D1--unrooted and used this to try to root and it works perfectly. When I get my SF, I would love to be able to do the same so I can get right in and set things up.

I didn't use z4 to root my fascinate but I've heard it does work. It might take a couple of tries though it seems.

It does work but, the first time I tried it the program did just sit there on me. Had to restart the phone and then it worked just fine.

de bloat that sucka....then run some sick rom.....then run some free tether.....then get that gps fixed, and the connection issues....then download power amp and take the little sgs to a flac/lossless player and hook some big old 500 dollar headphones to it and enjoy! That is just my lowly opinion....

If I rooted using z4 what would be the best way to fix the gps and reception issue?

I owened a sgs for 28 days.....I wish I knew.....I died trying to fix that one......

It sounds like there is some update coming from samsung that is supposed to fix that issue but I have yet to see it. I think some people have the update on their rooted phone but I would have no clue where to get it or how to install it.

I JUST got done reading a topic on this at android central:

http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-telus-fascinate/44602-update-coming-but-not-2-2-a.html

After reading the 8 pages it sounds like there is a rom out there however, once you flash the rom there is no way back to stock (my understanding). Sounds like it's way to risky to try. We heard 10 days ago that this would be released in a few weeks, so I'm hoping their word is true this time and we see it in the next few days :)

Weird that there is no way to go back to stock? How is that even poissible??? An SF might be diff than the D1 which I know MUCH better in the rooting world.

No matter, today I learned that on my D1, staying with stock (simply rooting without a ROM has major benefits as the phone is running super smooth. Yet I can still use root apps, remove bloatware and use terminal emulator or root explorer for basic tweaks. Was thinking about doing it this way on my SF and see if I can avoid the OCDness involved in the ROM world.

I could be wrong because I'm not hip to rooting and roms and all that. I'm pretty savvy with tech stuff but no matter how much I read about rooting and roms it seems to be so difficult and I get too scared that I'll brick my phone. I wish I could just root the phone and make a few changes to the bloat ware and I guess the battery is supposed to run better with a root app which I need bad.
