Now I don't know if I should root our wait for GB to come out this month, the only reason I don't wanna root is because of the known Voicemail notification issue and i'm not a huge fan of google voice.anyone know if this has been fixed yet?

It has not been fixed as far as I know.

You could always root and run a Froyo ROM.
