software update issues 7/24/12

My RAZR updated today, and when I try to put my favorites on the home screen I get "home screen failure". As well as a lengthy time loading my apps in the menu. Does anyone have any troubleshooting advice?

I know it can seem like a pain in @#$ but, many people here swear by doing a Factory Data Reset after an update. It helps bring everything into balance.

Do you know what update you just received? Did you just now update to ICS?

My system version is 6.16 if that is ICS. And thanks a lot! Does a factory data reset format my SD card as well?

You can choose for it to wipe the SD cards as well (I usually do not). Just remember that your phone has two cards (Internal and the external). I would do the reset while leaving the cards alone. If you still have issues you could always choose to wipe them as well next time (just in case there is something on the card not playing nice with ICS).

Make sure you back up any contacts or other information that you want to keep intact. There are plenty of apps in the market place you could use, or back them up through Google (or Verizon if you have them).
