Software Upgrade Rolling Out For Verizon phones

I had to download a new version of the Software Upgrade Assistance before I was able to download and install the upgrade. This is still Android version 4.2.2.

The new Baseband version is I545VRUDMI1. I haven't seen a changelog yet.

The Rezound sent out a firmware update to ready the phone for the firmware update before ICS. Perhaps that's what you got?

I haven't seen any news on the root impact.

The Software Upgrade Assistant is an application that runs on the PC that checks for software updates and, if there are, downloads them to the phone.

The Galaxy S4 already has ICS. Version 4.2.2 specifically.

The first update to the Rezound was the software assistance to get it ready.
As I wrote before, perhaps it's a precursor to 4.3 on the S4 that Verizon needed to push first

no working root

Any news on how it impacts root? Still good to go?

I updated this am via kies and to my findings there is no root method available yet. I thought I was updating to me7 because I was still on oldest. Factory reset will not remove update. Any findings please let me know!

It's the bloatware they install on your computer when you plug your phone in if you let them. Lame that they're pushing their update software rather than pushing it OTA like we'd prefer, but that's the way to get this one right now. No word on whether it will be sent OTA down the road, but I'd imagine they'd have to do it eventually.

I still haven't yet seen a formal changelog, but here are some additional items that *might* be included:

  • eSE Removal
  • Optical Reader (Stub)
  • Abbott WiFi Profile Fix
  • My Video Settings Update
  • New versions of: WatchON, Air View, Samsung Hub, Story Album, S Health, and S Translator
