Well, this is just great timing. What we're looking at here is supposedly a Sony Ericsson smartphone, which seems to sport a five-inch screen and a hinged slide-out keyboard like the HTC Shift and the Eking S515. Even if this prototype turns out to be legit, our tipster -- who has a solid track record -- says it's only running on Android 2.1 and that development is in its infancy while low-level drivers are being tested. Well, we can probably wait, except we're also told that internally SE doesn't appear to have any plans for 2.2 yet. Cue the angry tomatoes and eggs, but bring us a PSP phone any day and we'll call off the rally.

Update: We've received word from a second highly-trusted source who says that the display is 5.5 inches (too big to fit in the front pocket), and runs a clean Android 2.1 install. Oh, and it's launching in the fall.

With big beautiful screens like this coming out on smartphones, why in the world would any buy a tablet?

As much as I would like to ooh and aaah over this thing let's remember it is made by Sony/Ericsson. The Same company that has brought us the Experia X10 and X10 mini running Android 1.6 and HOPEFULLY receiving a 2.1 upgrade sometime in Q4/2010. With that wonderful track record me thinks this unit is something to just ignore.

Yea I was thinking the same thing, but hey, motorola turned things around.. :D

And the turn around was completely based on the Droid. This could be Sony's Droid.

But by looking at the picture, it looks like a mix between a netbook and a larger cell phone..

And yes, thats what I was thinking about, maybe this will turn things around for SE..

Well, well, the "leaked" photos of a Sony smartphone that I've been waiting 2 years for comes out right as I sign a 2 year deal with Verison and I get a DROID Incredible. That thing is SWEET! Plus with a screen size & keyboard like that I'm sure it could have some kind of PlayStation Network connection.
I'm still hoping for a PSPhone though, the way things look right now I'll be waiting a long time. Hopefully Sony will surprise me at E3.

keep dreaming kid i have been waitin for a phone with remote play capabilities 4 ever

I honestly will never buy anything aside from HTC, Motorola or iPhone anymore. They are the only ones that have proven themselves to me.

While this phone does look like it will be nice, the 5" screen will just make this phone too big. A lot of people say the EVO 4G is too big and that's only a 4.3 inch screen. With Sony Ericsson's track record i would never buy one of their phones. Ill wait for the HTC Scorpion if anything.

Maybe they cut Xperia x10's time for this big screen rocker!:p
Also as I know, Xperia X10 is running well even only with the 1.6 OS. At least Xperia doesn't have to worry about the variouty of LED colors as the Incredible does!dancedroid
