For Sony fans in the US, it's been a long time coming. The Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact will officially be released in North America (including US) on February 7th, 2016. The Xperia Z5 phones have been out for quite some time internationally, so it's odd that Sony never bothered to try and sell it in the US until now.
No specific carriers where mentioned (if any), as the phone will apparently be selling unlocked for $599.99 for the Z5 and $499.99 for the Z5 Compact at Amazon, Best Buy and B&H. Just for folks who don't remember the specs of these devices, here's a recap:
- Snapdragon 810
- 3GB of RAM
- 23MP rear cam
- 5.1MP front cam
- 32GB onboard storage plus microSD
- Waterproofing technology
- Z5 has a 5.2-inch 1080p display with a 2900 mAh battery
- Z5 Compact has a 4.6-inch 720p display and a 2700 mAh battery
