Sotck (non-gmail) email application data push

How do I turn off the data push for the stock email application. I have a yahoo account in there. In that app, when I go to settings > data push I can't turn it off: it's grayed out, but the green check mark is illuminated. This email is a low priority account, which doesn't need to be synced as soon as a message arrives on the server, and I don't want it draining battery life. Anyone know how turn off the data push? Thanks!

I had the original droid before this, and some of the crap on this phone seems way more complicated than it needs to be.

Actually you can remove the Yahoo! account, then add it back, but this time, do not use the Yahoo! button when selecting the type of email account. Use the 'Other' button for the type of account. Then you will be able to set the fetch time.
