Is there a way to set the notifications to only vibrate and leave the rest of the sounds active? At night I turn the phone to vibrate however this phone is barely noticeable when on vibrate. Thus when I receive a call at night I'll miss it. There does not appear to be a way to set certain functions to vibrate only. Seems like it's feast or famine only.

Which notifications? You can set messages to only vibrate I think. Let me double check.

Go into

Messaging> Settings

and change ringtone to silent and leave vibrate checked.

All notifications. You can set the phone to always vibrate but you can't set notification sounds to off or none. In the main settings area at least. Is there another place to set these sounds/vibration?

edit - Ok I found the place to alter the text messaging settings however I'm still going to get sound notifications for email and I can't yet find a place to alter that. Just using Gmail at the moment and their app doesn't appear to allow sound/notice alterations.

edit 2 - nevermind...if you dig a bit further you can apparently set this per account. ;)

I use Audio Manager Pro (I think it's $2.99 in the market), set scheduled time for different audio profiles (no notifications sound or vibrate but still phone ring & vibrate at night, no sounds just vibrate during work hours, etc), plus on the fly adjustments.

The scheduler lets me not have to worry about forgetting to turn notifications off at night, or all sounds at work, & that alone is worth $3.

I don't know how to do what you want but for those low ringtones there is an app on the market called https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hlidskialf.android.tonepicker wich will allow you to the turn up the system volume
for some reason bionic has the system (read global) volume only half way that is way its so low, once you turn it all the way up (as it should be) the ringtones are loud
