When the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were announced at Samsung's unpacked event I was pretty surprised to hear that they would release with micro usb charge ports. It seems the main reason the phones came with micro usb was to maintain compatibility with the current generation of Samsung Gear VR. This means that while devices like the HTC 10 and LG G5 both released with USB Type-C Samsung decided to stick with an older tech.
SamMobile confirmed today that the Galaxy Note 6 will release with USB Type-C. This means that Note 6 users will enjoy a fully reversible charge cord experience as well as faster charging and data transfer speeds. We can also assume that since the Note 6 will come with Type-C we will likely also see a Type-C Gear VR. Hopefully they will also come free with pre-orders.
