Speaker mute issues after update

My Bionic was updated a couple of weeks ago. Since then, the speaker mutes for music, video and navigation every now and then. I cannot adjust the volume at all and have to reboot the phone to fix the problem when it occurs. The phone and ringer volume is not affected. Any ideas?

I have this issue also. On my phone you don't have to reboot to fix it. Go to the home screen and just press volume up or down and it starts working, at least on mine.

this most likely means your media volume was muted by an app or silent mode.

OP:
what build / ROM are you on? does it have beats audio installed? you can try installing Alsa Mixer from play store, installing the alsa package, and finding the device for speaker playback (see screen shot for following commands): it is typically DL1. You can check the setting for DAI, but volume controls will be Codec & DL1 Media (will not persist reboot)
