I've always wondered why those anonymous meetings start out with introductions, but since it's a site suggestion I'll introduce myself a bit.
I'm a U.S. Navy veteran, I learned electronics working on satellite communications systems in the Navy and have an extensive experience with Motorola gear as my father worked for the Mighty Batwings for 30+ years and I've been factory-trained at Motorola central in Shaumburg, IL myself. I'm also a licensed amateur radio operator and an avid console videogamer with systems as modern as the Xbox360 and as old as the Atari 2600.
I never meant to be on Verizon's network, but they bought Alltel which is how I got to be a Verizon customer right around the time my contract ran out so when the Droid was announced, I was ready to pounce and I did.
What attracted me to the phone was a Motorola Engineer (a total insider) showed me his Droid and it was just too cool not to get. It's a complicated little gadget but that's the kind of gadget I like.
