Stock email app weird notification problem

First it is the email app that comes with the X. Tried gmail and problem isn't there. Tried K9 and maildroid. All to me honestly stink. The email app is best. Always get my emails instantly and best interface (til I find a new email app...)

That being said the problem is that the no matter what I do the notification tone is acting up. It technically plays twice, but its actually like a stutter. I use the Droid notification and it sounds like "Dro-Droid." Hard to describe but it is driving me insane. Tried a dozen different sounds and same thing.

Anyone have a similar problem or any idea at all how to fix this?

You might try the 3rd party app "gmail notifier" and remove your notifications from the stock email app to see if that solves the problem...if it doesn't, it could possibly be an internal issue.
