VZW,nexus, totally stock, never rooted/rom'd.

Persistent search bar alternates between a magnifying glass icon and "Google". Nothing changed in settings.

Any idea?

Do you mean within the search bar those icons alternate?

Did you perhaps get the OTA update, which "updates" search? Settings > about phone > Build Number Does it say IMM76Q or IMM76K ?

I am just guessing here though.

E2A perhaps take a screenshot of what you are talking about, to perhaps give a clearer idea of what you are talking about. Volume down + lock button at same time = screenshot.

That was happening to me on ICS too. No idea why!

Take notice to my search bar. It now reads Google. However, twice today, in place of Google, it was a magnifying glass icon
