Stock message App

I have looked for over 30 minutes in the threads for an answer to my question but could not find it. I apologize in advance if the answer is there. How do you disable the stock messaging app to only get messages using Handcent.?

Go in to the stock messaging settings and turn off auto retrieve and notifications.
