Is there a way I can disable headset controls on my stock music app? If not, would root be the only way to get rid of the stock music app? Also, I find that my hotmail app never sends emails, how can I fix that?
I haven't used to stock app since November a year ago. So I don't have an answer about that app. Other than to suggest that you try some of the other music apps in the market. I used MixZing for a long time. It's a good solid app. Also check out PowerAmp.
I am currently using PowerAmp and it does have a way to turn off headphone controls under settings. I bet the others do too.
I use power amp, but the problem is my earphones send random controls so often, if I don't keep the phone and cable perfectly still, the stock music app plays songs alongside power amp
From the Home Screen, menu/settings/applications/manage applications/all/music/clear defaults/clear cache/clear data. Probably the clear defaults will take care of it. If it doesn't, the problem may be a loose earphone jack. If it can wiggle around the can send erroneous signals to the music apps.
If you are rooted you can disable the music by going to it with your file manager and renaming it music.bak. That way if you ever want it back you can put the name back to music.apk.
