stopping double notifications using Handcent.

Anyone got any clues? I tried turning off notifications sounds for the regular SMS but that seemed to stop all notifications. I get two icons too?

There are currently a couple other threads on this topic, I've pasted the answer here for you.

1. Open the "messaging" from the app drawer
2. Push the "menu" button(the 2nd button from left on the bottom of your Droid
3. Click SETTINGS
4. Scroll down and UNCHECK "Notifications"
5. To futher disable the mssaging app you can UNCHECK " Auto-Retrieve"(this prevents the "Messaging" App from even downloading messages.
6. Exit the app. Rejoice. Live long and Prosper. Yay!

It took a while but I figured out what was causing my double notification. I was using Missed Call and this program was putting a notification up there, the same notification symbol that the native SMS program uses.
