One of my favorite local radio stations uses mms:// protocol to stream in windows media format.
mms://citadelcc-wzzn-fm.wm.llnwd.net/citadelcc_wzzn_fm
Is there an ap that will allow me to listen to to this stream? Almost all of my favorite local stations use a windows media stream.

Really? Their morning show just suxs.....

There is nothing in the market that i can find that does this.

android does not support streaming windows media files. there are currently no plans in the works to support this format.

but if the stream is in flash then you will be good to go in 2010
nobody has confirmed this yet. do you know that the inner workings of flash do not need built-in support for streaming media?

until we get flash, we don't know for sure.

that a stream in flash will resolve the issue. do you know that flash doesn't need the locally installed codecs in order to function properly? is it all self-contained?

until we actually get flash, we can only hope that it will help to resolve this issue.

many people who have been waiting for flash specifically for xm/sirius streaming are hoping this will answer their prayers.

gotcha thanks for the info. i just assumed that when i try a flash site for radio and then i try to install flash and it says flash will be avail in 2010 i just put 2 and 2 together but i underdstand death and taxes are all you can really says is a sure thing.

the problem is, until it comes out, no one can say 100% that it will work as we hope it will.

That sucks, as almost all real radio stations stream using mms protocol. I'm sure they don't do it on purpose just to annoy Google, they stream in that protocol because of the proliferation of windows PC's that access the Internet.

WMA streaming

I agree. Google is being hard-headed about something that ultimately makes the Droid difficlut to use. I thought they were pro-"open platform".
Blocking out WMA providers seems stupid when so many of them have content that is good. Content drives listenership, not technology. No one chooses a stream or service because it's AAC+ versus WMA. GOOGLE: Give us back our content!
