Streong Video MotoCast/VLC/VPN

What is everyone using for video streaming. After rooting do you lose MotoCast.

Wife is looking for a tablet and trying to set up one streaming server for phones and tablet.

Media files currently on Windows XP so any other suggestions appreciated.

Don't know about some of your questions, but my rooted phone works fine with MotoCast. One thing I did notice however is that when your Motocast host/server is streaming a video, it uses a lot of CPU. My guess is that it must be transcoding on the fly...

Good to know Motocast still works. I've been playing with VLC but not so sure I'm liking it. Seems to lag a little and I'm on my wifi which gets between 30 and 50 downloads so I'm concerned how it will play on 3g and 4g. Used both my XP desktop and Win 7 laptop and Motocast better on both than VLC. unfortunately Motocast isn't on tablet

Motocast is on the new xyboard (sp?). You can also try Orb mycast. It works on both my Razr and my Xoom. The only issue I have is it loses the audio when I try to stream live TV from my media PC but after some research i found that is related to my video capture card.

You can set it up to get files, video, music, and it will even access NAS.

Do you find picture quality lacking on Orb? I tried that with mobo player and found picture quality to be very poor.

I saw other options on these forums but don't appear they would work for 4g.

Back to the drawing board I guess.

The Orb app available in the market is horrible. I use Dolphin HD browser to view content through Orb. While not great it is acceptable.
