switching rom/updating kernel help

Im currently on gummyjar2.5 android version 2.21 and kernel 2.6.32.9-g55626e1

im rooted, trying to update to a gingerbread rom, hopefully apex2.0. Can I just straight up flash this? or do i need to go back to stock and get the OTA then flash it?
