Swype is the best

I want to thank this forum for turning me on to swype. I love it:icon_ banana:

I was a slow, begrudging texter. But with swipe I text often, using whole sentences.
I have become so fast, and it amazes me how right it can be, even with miss spelled words (which I do often). That being said, there are times where a simple word isn't recognized after 2 or 3 attempts. luckily this is not that often, and I can just punch it in the old way.

I know what you mean though about it not recognizing words sometimes....like "don't" turns out to be "font" for some reason....someone else also mentioned that same word the other day on here actually...

I have it but I only use it sparingly so far... It's frustrating that it doesn't know the larger words... I know you can make it learn those words so it would get better over time, I just have to mess with it more.. Fun app though

That's weird because I find the larger the word, the more accurate it is. (decreases possibilities). in fact when I'm showing off the phone (especially to I phone owners) I use large words because I can swype quickly and the accuracy is amazing. Oh the envious looks I get!:icon_ devil:

^+1, I've had little to no problem with 'larger words'... course they do have to be spelled correctly:icon_ devil: which undoubtedly causes problems for a LOT of people now a days (myself included, too many years of relying on spell check, :rofl3.

Is there a version out yet that will capitalize the first word of a sentence AND create a period and space when hitting space twice?

The absence of these two things perplexes me.

Autocap I don't think so, but for period + space, I just swype from the period to the space bar. Seems easy enough. Even in SW I don't double-tap space; I just tap the period once.

+1 for swype. I do wish it had the option to only work in portrait and have the android keyboard in landscape because I can type much faster on swype in portrait and in landscape I am quicker with the android keyboard.

I used swype for about a week but went back to the standard keyboard. As fast as it can be to type, I found myself spending more time correcting swype's mistakes than it took to just type it in, mainly with the small words. It was also annoying when doing URLs in since it would add the space. I type primarily in landscape mode anyways and the type ahead is quick enough for me. Swype was nice in portrait mode where the keys are hard to accurately hit though.

Just checked the Swype forum and they are updating the offical swype app. ex. being able to hold down delete key for mass delete...will another leaked (updated) version come out for us droid owners?

I believe it is still in beta and you must download form them directly. I believe you can google Swype to get their website.
