Sync with a usb cord

I have a Verizon plan and would like to find a way to sync my calendar & contacts from Outlook to my home pc using a usb cable rather than having to do it wirelessly on the verizon (or Google) network.

Is this possible? If so what do I need?

It's just a link to app recommendations by the forum members. Stuff I never would have discovered on my own...

Did you take a look at the link that christim provided? That tells you about CompanionLink and it's syncing capablilties. I hear nothing but good things about it.

It's certainly possible. Companion Link is one option. There are quite a number of threads that already discuss the options. I don't have links handy -- I'd have to search, same as you.
