sync with T-bird

about to upgrade from LG Env Touch to either a Droid 2 or Droid X from Verizon... is there a way to sync my emails on my home PC in Thunderbird email with either phone... similar to what can be done with the Blackberries ..using POP....

I'm new to Droid so if it's been answered just point me in the right direction/link on these forums..

any help is greatly appreciated.. many thanx
