Syncing With Computer

I just purchased my Motorola Droid today. I wanted to put music on it so i connected it with my computer. My computer found new hardware and it wants me to "Insert the disc that came with your Motorola Droid." But I do not have any disc that cam with it.

Any help?

Welcome!

Did you mount you Droid or did you allow your PC to discover? You need to mount. Once your mounted your computer will see your phone and its SD card. Create a "Music" folder on the SD card, then drag your albums to the "Music" folder.

I click the "Locate and install driver software (recommended)"
Then this pops up on my toolbar

I push Mount on my phone but nothing happens.

I use a Mac so my suggestions may not be exact. I suggest that you go here Motorola Media Link - Motorola USA) and download the drivers.

I've been away from Windows for quite sometime but I thought that your process should go something like this:

Connect phone and computer via USB.
Use the phone's notification drop down and select MOUNBT.
This should add a D or E drive which is the SD card on your phone.

Click that drive and then create the Music folder the click and drag.

I wil be traveling tomorrow so I may not respond to any follow up until late tomorrow night

ok so it might have hidden the notification for it, so click on start, then click on computer there should be an option for a removable disc with parenthesis and a letter, if you have multiple things plugged in to the computer then you might have to click on different ones until you get the one that has your droid sdcard on it
Edit:I was typing this when he^ was typing it so sorry for the repeat directions

No link to pc when mounting

I am getting the same thing like he described above with my A854. I have never been able to get my phone to 'mount' to my pc. I get the (insert a disk into drive F) box...

1) I was told to format the SD card - no change
2) I downloaded 'Motohelper' to get the drivers needed - still no go
3) I installed Motorola Media Link - no go it times out ( all I get is the 'cannot connect to the device' make sure your unit is PIN unlocked etc)
4) I did a factory reset then back to step 1, with a different SD card (that worked perfect in my HERO)

When I select 'mount' I get the windows box asking what I would like to do, view files, view pics, etc, any of those selections does 'nothing' I get the "please insert a disk into 'drive f'.

When I try to open the "drive F" from my computer, it says please insert a disk into drive F, again. If I right click and open properties, I get 0 bytes, and 0 content, and I know theres pics on it right now.

I am at a loss. Every body else just seems to work fine. I cant even root the POS because I cant transfer any files...

USB debugging is off
Im on 2.1 update 1, ACS Alaska Network
baseband C_01.07.00R
kernel 2.6.29-omap1
build MILER-X1_00.26.1
Phone sees 7.4gb storage space

Any help is MUCH appreciated!
