T9 texting for the DROID

So as everyone knows the droid does not come capable of t9 sms, and the only way that you can allow your phone to do this is buy the app better keyboard or even better keyboard.

I think its stupid that you can download so many more useful apps that are free and this one is the only one i can seem to find that i want and costs money.
Does anyone know of a way or an app that doesnt cost anything that will alow my droid to run t9 texting.:motdroidhoriz:

Handcent SMS has T9 keyboard functionality (you need to download the Handcent Keyboard as well as the application itself from the marketplace to be able to use T9). It not only gives you T9 capabilities, but a pretty darn cool SMS app as well... for free.
