Tad bit confused on Droid X Bootstrapper

I am coming from a D1 so I am familiar w/root, recovery, etc. Got bored with it so I bought a Droid X and rooted it. Knew I had to have the DX Bootstrapper so I downloaded it, blah blah blah. I've been reading that when you reboot the "X" it should reboot into the recovery, correct? Only time mine does now (after installing rubiX ROM) is when I either go into RM and select reboot into recovery or open the DX Bootstrapper program and select it that way. Am I missing something? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm just new to the DX way of things. Still got my D1 handy in case I really get irritated :)
