I have been having all kinds of issues with my DX, so I have factory reset, and was going to unroot, but not sure how to take off clockworkmod recovery. I tried a how to, but when I get to mount in terminal it says it can't mount. Is there a easier way to get rid of it.
Cut-n-paste:
->Remove Clockworkmod<-
- su
- mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
- rm /system/bin/logwrapper
- rm /system/bin/hijack
- cp /system/bin/logwrapper.bin /system/bin/logwrapper
- mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
- reboot

I rooted with z4root, so unrooting is not a issue. The only thing that is left is clockwork. So I have re rooted to get rid of it.

I took uninstalled bootstrap also.

I'm hoping to see if the phone acts up while basically stock and not rooted.

Thanks

I'm still looking for the answer to this just in case I want to go back to stock.

You can do it in root explorer
Delete /system/bin/hijack
Delete /system/bin/logwrapper
Rename /system/bin/logwrapper.bin to logwrapper

Thank you guys very much, this is what I was looking for!!!! I went back to stock thinking I was gonna have to take my X in, but couldn't get the clockwork flash off and I didn't want to leave it on.

I still might take it back in due to sometimes they screen will just not come back on with you hit the button for awhile. So if I did, I would set it back to stock at the store before they take it after I show them what it is doing. I always have to pull the battery to fix the issue.

as my dx isn't able to do backups and restores in bootstrapper. on a suggestion of something to try a forum member mentioned the following.
**Delete /system/bin/logwrapper
Rename /system/bin/logwrapper.bin to logwrapper
rebooted...then reinstalled bootstrapper. ** (still no luck getting restores to work)

i'm just curious as i didn't delete the hijack file as you recommend (do you think that will help?) and now when i go in my bin folder that file doesn't exist. plus there is no logwrapper.bin file anymore. (i guess when i renamed it to logwrapper a new logwrapper.bin file never got recreated)

Bootstrapper app renames logwarapper to logwrapper.bin. Do you have the most recent version of the app? If not that is most likely your problem

here is where i got mine....is this the newest?
http://koush.tandtgaming.com//motorola/droidx/DroidXBootstrap.apk

edit....well that one is 1.0.0.3
the one shown on androlib is the same 1.0.0.3
But the one actually on the app market on my phone says 1.0.0.5

hmm. me wonders if buying it and getting that newer version will help me out?!
any thoughts on this?
the recently changed in this version says.
add support for ROMs that come with hijack built in(like the GEM series)

No that version supports just added support for obsidian. Your version should work. What does it say when it fails?

all my restores used to stall out on this message
cache_1669375730
during the restore process

after removing and re-installing bootstrapper all my restores stall out on this message
DATA_Tiles_2

correct.
the backups going through the system and data and all that and complete successfully.

restoring them has never working for me. I've only done them on the newest OTA so its not like i'm trying to go back or fwd to a different release number.

i've tried doing all the wipe data wipe cache mount system in all different orders and what not. the restores always hang in the same spots.

How large are the size of your backups and how many files are in the backup folder?

Hhmmmm. I don't have android secure file in any of my backups, just the other 4. Everything else seems ok..... Have you tried to make a backup with rom manager?
