Talk to text/Voice Input

When I'm texting or in another page and push the speak to text button a message comes up saying "there is a problem with the network connection" but what does the network have to do with texting? (I was connected to wi-fi either way) Is there a setting that needs to be checked/unchecked? Thanks for any feedback!

Talk to txt needs cellular data towork on my dx. Not sure why it wont work over wifi...kinda sucks it doesn't.
