Telus Milestone 2.1 update = "legit" root access?

So im just wondering, does the new 2.1 update for telus milestones allow root access?

Has anyone actually tested it?

btw, the kernel version is now 2.6.29.

It's the same as before. You can root but you won't get full kernel access.
