Tethering problem Barnacle/Wireless tether

I rooted successfully with z4root. I downloaded and installed wireless tether, ran it and connected my Powerbook G4 running OS 10.5.8. All looked good but when I started my Browser, I got "You are not connected to the internet". I ran Network diagnostics and the whole process stops at "Network". I then downloaded Barnacle and installed with the exact same results. I can connect my laptop to the phone, but no data flows between them. Just for kicks, I connected my desktop iMac OS 10.5.8 and that works fine. Any ideas? Tethering is the ONLY reason I rooted my phone!

Working now... I tried renaming the SSID and password and now my PowerBook connects and transfers data. I don't know why the iMac would connect and function with the default settings and the PowerBook wouldn't but it is working now. Is Barnacle any better/worse than Wireless Tether?

They both seem to have their problems. I personally use Wifi tether for root users. Had a few issues but it works fine now.
