TEXT MESSAGE - how can i tell if i have a new text?

I have a text icon on my homepage but it always looks the same... on my old phone my icon was in bold if there was a new message.

How can I tell if I get a new text on the new Droid 2 phone? (if i miss the sound)... can't figure it out.
very frustrating.
please help.

You should get an icon in the notification bar if you have a new text. If not, double-check the settings in your messaging app. Alternatively, I believe the LED will flash green if there's a new message too (and some other LED flash didn't override it). Even more alternatively, there's messaging widgets you can get that'll show you the latest message if you want.

oh wow are you kidding me..the D2 came with a paper manual, you might wanna skim through it. Sry but this is the basic of the basic, if you cant figure this out i dont know if a smart phone is really for you.
