Text Message Issues

I had an old LG phone, I liked when after beeping it also lit up when a txt message appears. Any way to set that up on the Motorola Droid? Also how can I get the old standard beep for a text message, that wasnt a sound option I could find.

Last question, I used to be able to see when my texts were read. I turned those settings on and only see an envelope with an I now, how can I tell WHEN my texts were read?

Handcent SMS will allow you to change the color of the LED notification.... enable a pop-up window (can disable), and also has a widget that can be placed on the home screen, and then set to show a 'zero count' (meaning all texts have been read) on the widget itself.

MissedCall will allow you to do this as well. It will additionally let you change the color, time, speed and notification(s) for everything (calls, email, txts ect)

okay, so they only way to actually see when a message was read is this app? On the older phones it was built in.

If you're looking for something on the home screen to show you whether or not your messages are read..... the Handcent widget does this, and there is a widget you can download for the stock messaging.
Short of that, you'd have to open whatever messaging your using to see what's been read. Also.... if you've got a notification of a text, that would mean something isn't read.... wouldn't it?

With Handcent if the message isn't read then the thread remains with a green highlight on the left side. Once it's read the highlight goes away

I believe that the original poster isn't concerned with when THEY read the text but when the person they sent it to read it. And also at the time a message was originally sent to them.

I have had my Droid for almost 3 weeks and have been trying to figure out the same thing. I admit it is an Eris so not everything on this forum does pertain but it has been very helpful.

I use the handcent app, I have played around with the read reports and find them very useless. 1. I hate that I get a notification as if I were receiving a text AND 2. when I get the icon to the right (which Im not really sure which is which- netowrk or handcent) it always shows pending and doesn't change. So Im always scouring the market and forums for a solution to this as well... I know I wasnt very helpful. lol

Any other spot to get it? I have the rattlesnake one now, like the beeps more. Might add vibrate also.

Is there any place to DL the LG Beeps to use? That one isnt working for some reason. Also, I can see that my message was "received" but still not the TIME when it was received.
