Text messages keep getting deleted

i keep having an issues with all or most of my Text Messages History being deleted.

then after that happens the names of the text/threads that are still left have a different name on them. like i sent the text to Joe Doe, but now is says Mike Jones. it will have all the history from the original sent name to but have the other name on it. make sense?

anyone else have any issues like this?

There are quite a few threads on this issue. A quick forum search should give you a few. I've never experienced it but from what I've read it is a problem with 3rd party sms apps such as chomp or handcent. I haven't seen any reports of it happening with the native messaging app.

im using Handcent and have the newest update for it.
