text messages not geting sent

so, im in the metro area of winston salem, NC and have been having issues with senting text messages. my phone is constantly switching from 3g to 1x, and randomly goes from no bars to all bars.

i have tryed the *228 update but it did nothing.

are there anything else that might fix this? other people here have verizon and are not having any issues.

"Pending" Outgoing Text Messages Won't Send

I have consistently battled with the same issue and would be greatly appreciative if someone could advise on what is causing the backlog of text messages from sending out.
