Text Messaging Icon Issue

So on the front of my stock text messaging icon there is a white number 2 over an orange background that looks like a banner over the app that wraps around the front. Does anyone know why this is there or how I can get it off?

I have already looked in all the setting and I cannot figure it out. I know it is not the number of unread messages because I have tried looking at all my messages as well as deleting all of them but nothing worked.

Thanks!

Sounds like the notification is stuck. Its happened to me before and a reboot fixed it... however, you can try to go to settings - apps - all, find your text messaging app and clear data. This will delete your texts but it might help clear the notifications.

I've got the same problem with my new RAZR HD. Tried clearing all data as suggested above, but no luck.
