text msg sync up problem

When i want to send a text or email out, my address bar won't bring up my contact list regardless how many letters of the name i type in. is there a sync problem or software in the phone. I don't have that problem in my other droid. do i need to return the phone?

You can go to your contact list and then decide if you want to
navigate to the person's address
call them on the phone
send them a text message

I use Handcent for messages, a free app in the market. When I start typing a name in the TO field it populates that field with possibilities. Upper left hand corner has an icon I can press on to start a new message.

If the above isn't working and you have a phone where it is working then I'm guessing you know how it works. Bringing it into a store and seeing what they say is always an option.
