Hey guys I am VERY new to a phone that does anything more than call or text. I now have a Droid 2 Global, and it has a couple quirks, like the touchscreen freezing, $ sign backing up next to the previous word even though I put a space in there. So what i'm getting at, is I know NOTHING about these phones, but I see all this stuff about rooting, ROM, etc. and I what i'm wanting to know is what exactly does all that do? I've read up on the rooting, but I still don't really understand it and it seems fairly hard to install (especially for someone like me !!). Any information is GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you,
Josh

If your phone is having issues at stock dont root. If its a hardware issue go ahead and gat a new device. You should not be having your device freeze up on you.

The $ and " backing up to the previous word is a known software issue. You can either use an alternative keyboard app (search the market for keyboard, there's plenty.. I highly recommend smart keyboard pro, but it's a paid app, there are good free versions) or just deal with it. The touchscreen freezing sounds like something I wouldn't deal with. If it's new, just take it back to a VZW store and get it exchanged while you can. Make sure they give you a new phone, not a refurb.
