the 2.1 update killed my droid

The other day, I got the notification for the 2.1 update. Obviously, I agreed to the update and put the phone in my pocket. Hours later, I took out my Droid which was continuously looping through the booting sequence. I pulled the battery and played with it. I ended up doing a factory reset because nothing else worked. It worked fine for a little bit, but then it stopped working when not plugged in. Whenever my phone boots up, it works fine for about 15 seconds, freezes, and then reboots. I tried another factory reset but I ended up with the same problem. If I have it plugged in to the charger, it works perfectly (although the charging light doesn't light up anymore for some reason). The terrible customer service man at verizon told me I was out of luck because the screen is damaged (scratched). At this point, im extremely angry that i got screwed by this update and now am out of a phone and all the money I spent on it thus far. If anyone has any ideas or anything regarding a way to fix it, I would greatly appreciate it.

Go through customer service on the phone or go back to the Verizon store and speak with a different tech. The screen being scratched is not an excuse to refuse you a replacement phone. Especially because the reason you need a replacement is their 2.1 software update.

The best recommendation i can give you is to do it through customer service on the phone.

An Add-on to that, make sure they note everything they tell you on the phone, in the call log or notes. I have had the phone rep tell me one thing, and then when I go into a store they tell me something completely different. Except the customer service reps on the phone can't be held accountable unless you get their names, and most of the time that doesn't happen.

Well (not to my surprise), when my parents went in with the phone, they immediately gave them a replacement. Apparently being a kid means you have no human value. Thanks for the advice though!
