Going on my 4th day now with the iPad. I really like it a lot, it does lack multitasking but hey, so do I.

Now I've heard so many things from people in this forum saying how bad the Market is compared to the app store. I've heard all the things about how there is no porno in the app store.

Bull pucky!!!!!

The app store is not that easy to navigate through. I don't see the search feature as being any better then the Markets. And as far as no pornography, I did and intense investigation into this.....I mean I accidentally discovered that there is a certain amount of porn in the app store, although it's probably very soft porn.

No truly quite by accident I ran into this Porn in the app store. I was looking for an app call im+ and as mentioned earlier I can't multitask so I forgot the first part of the app. Yeah, I'm that dumb. Anyway I thought I'd just try the + in the search and see what happened.

Maybe that's a secret code in the app store but it took me to their small but nevertheless there collection of soft core porn.

Now the discussion of porn sites is not allowed in the Droid Forums and I'm not discussing that. I'm just saying that there is a certain amount of it in the app store.

OK enough on that. Let's talk pricing. Angry Birds, $4.95 (HD), that twitter/im app I was looking for, $10.00. And if you don't like the app? Good luck trying to get your money back. Apple makes you jump through all kinds of hoops for that. I'll take our simple return within 24 hours policy any day.

Now I won't say that the app I paid $10.00 wasn't worth it, it is. Very slick I do like it but I just can't see Android people being willing to shell out that kind of dough. I think we are a bit spoiled. ;)

Thanks Hook for the review on markets.. i have a friend who has ipd touch and i was on his market the other day.. the only thing they got more of than us is fart apps..
They do have more/better games though

Glad your liking your ipad. saw you the other day tweeting about wanting a good app for it.. 10 bucks holy #$%$. :icon_eek:

Well, it's good to know life isn't any better on the other side.

I'm hoping the quality of games for Android catches up soon though. Angry Birds was fun and all for a few, but I'd like more options :)

You can't complain about angry birds. Has a lot of levels and good graphics and is free. You can't beat a full game for free.

Glad you like the I pad hook. I have a suggestion to make typing easier if you haven't heard already, but get a Apple wireless keyboard it is supposed to work great with the ipad. I don't have one but I met some one who was using that setup like a laptop. BTW thanks for the review on the market. :) I agree that we Android users are spoiled just a little. ;)

Trying out Sprint for a month. Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk. 4G is pointless when you don't live in one of the few available network areas.

Over the beginning of the summer I got my iPod touch, it came with my mac, and I fell inlove with that thing I did much more than I anticipated! But as soon as I got my Droid 2...well let's just say my iPod is back to jus being a mp3 player.

I have the wireless keyboard and I can see where that would come in handy. I'm thinking about pulling my old keyboard out and just using my wireless keyboard with the iPad.

What I should have done is ordered a stand for the iPad. But I ordered a case for it.

whoops, went off topic didn't we? Oh well... stuff happens. Back to the topic.

I was just looking at some alternate browsers for the iPad and they all cost money. No freebies out there. One is .99 and one is $2.00 I wish I had the 24 hour period the Market offers to try them.

Sorry for kind of going off topic. :) So you can't use another browser without paying for it. That stinks.

The only thing the App Store has is better organization. You can actually see the top apps of the week/all time. And it just seems easier to find what you are looking for even when not directly searching for it.

I'm in favor of the longer descriptions and bigger screen shots available in the App Store. I often end up wondering what an app in the Market actually does, and there isn't always a link to the developer's web page. Of course those apps are almost always free, so trying and not liking them isn't a catastrophe.

As far as the prices go, yep, prices tend to be higher and there are fewer free apps. It's not fair to directly compare the iPad apps to the Android phone apps though. When we actually get some Android Tablet apps and there is a place to buy them, expect to pay more.

The app store may look better organized because it has more of a professional appearance. I don't find the app store's search to be any more effective then the Market. Try punching in a +on the Market search. Let me know if that brings up porno.

Something Else I Noticed....

Did you know in the Apple app store there are at least 2 alternate browsers. Everyone seems to think Atomic is good for the iPad so I spent a buck and bought it.

It had tabbed browsing so I figured I'll set it up as my default browser. But nope, can't do that. You see Apple will let you put another browser on your phone or iPad but if your like me and do 99% of your web browsing based on other peoples links then too bad, you get Safari.

I know that's kind of off topic but I wanted to complain and didn't want to set up an off topic thread for it. Thought I'd squeeze it in here.

At least with the browsers we get with our Android phones we can choose which one we want to be default browser.

App Store V Market…5 months later

So I posted about a couple of apps today that I got from the Market that I thought were great apps. Both of these apps I originally found in Apple's App Store.

My point now is that I continue to have both the iPad and my D2 I'm finding more and more apps that were not available in the Market previously. Android is doing a great job of getting some really good apps here. If you're thinking about jumping ship just because of the App Store, think twice. Gaming is the only place I see a huge lead in the App Store v Market right now. Just my observations over the past 5 months.
