I am going to update to 2.3.. just not sure what's going on. it downloads it and the it says installation failed after it boots.. the super user status gets given out to the various apps I have after it shows installation failed.

at the moment all the "user apps" are backed up using titanium backup pro.

this is what I got off the phone..
2.2
baseband
BP_C_01.09.07P
kernel
2.6.32.9-ga42712e
w30471@il93lnxdroid08# 1

I did a back up when I installed rom manager. I also have bootstrap app.

at this moment I thought id be stock.. cept for rooting.

1. run rom manager and run backup of original..
2. download and install the update
3. reroot phone with z4root?
4. after I got root.. download and run titanium backup pro.. so it will install the apps I downloaded.

be on my merry way..???

So it won't allow you to update?

And when you make a nandroid backup your rooted. You can't be rooted before an OTA update. You must get rid of all Super User apps, the SU apk and SU files. Then unroot.

Or flash an sbf.
