So recently i set up my google voice number... which is a 201 number (i live in Jersey).. and when i try to make a call using google voice it uses a 609 number??? Shouldnt it be using my 201 gv number?

when i go into my GV setting it says my gv number is that 201 number... never any where does it say this 609 number...

Im trying to make unlimited calls using my freinds and family calling from verizon (register a number with them and calls to that are unlimited)

When the Google Voice app dials out... it dials into a access number then places your call

Oh i always thought that it was calling my GV number.. So when i call using GV it will display my GV number?

And what number should i put into my friends and family? that 609 number?

You need to log into your GoogleVoice account online (from a PC) and set up all your settings.. it has a pretty good tutorial on it. And all the things you can do with it

i have signed in on the webiste and set everything up... i dont get what number to put into my friends and family. And do you by any chance know where those tutorials are?

you will add 2 numbers... the access number it dials and your google voice number. The access number is so you get free out bound calls and your GV # for free inbound.

I will look for the tutorials

Heh, I got a Google Voice number, but I have never used it. My plan from VZW doesn't include the "F&F" so unless I use it only at night or weekends, it's still going to use my minutes.:(

how do you have a newer phone and an old ass calling plan?!

You can still utilize free sms.

Because when we first joined Verizon many moons ago we got a basic-type plan. 300 minutes a month.

And even though it's not on the "books" anymore at VZW, they still let us renew every time the contract's up.

And - like I have mentioned on this forum a few times before - the only reason I have this phone is it was a gift at Christmas from my parents, and I use it as a phone. Nothing else. We don't go anywhere near 300 minutes a month.

Note that you have to set the GV option to have caller ID to display your own GV number instead of the actual inbound number for this approach to work.

If you don't want to do that (I didn't) you still get free inbound minutes for anyone on your list.

Age of the plan doesn't matter. You could sign up today for plans that don't include F&F.
