time for a new phone. any recommendations?

my note 2 is about to give up the ghost and with all the new phones out it's a bit overwhelming so I've decided to ask my favorite community for their opinion.

here's what I'm looking for in a phone.

5.5" screen or larger, I'm a bit blind and larger screens are nice.

sd card slot, up I've got unlimited data but I'm not ready to give up my 64gb sd card, unless I can get a phone with 128gb built in.

root capable on Verizon. because I want root, tibu etc etc. I'm not ready to give this up either.

that's about it, I've read tons of reviews and it seems to be making the decision harder.

Sounds like you're talking a Nexus 6P. Big Screen 128gb version and ROOT. Not many other options.

128GB Nexus 6P or Moto X Pure with Sd card slot would be my top contenders. Personally, I chose a 64GB Nexus 6P.

Can the Moto X Pure be rooted ?

I know the bootloader can be unlocked, so I'd assume root's not far behind if it doesn't already exist. It's practically a Nexus device.

Yes it can. Has an unlocked bootloader as well.

I was definitely looking at the moto x pure. I'm ready to leave sammy, I'll miss my stylus though I'm sure I'll get over it.

the 6p looks killer... I'm going to go read some more about it. I was thinking that would be it. that or the v10, though we won't know about root in the v10 until after its released.

I just looked up the full side by side comparisons and I'm definitely underwhelmed by the 5x

looks like I'll be looking into the 6p for sure.

yea. nexus 6p seems to be viable option for now. with that requirement, I can't think of any other phones.
